Client Rehired: How to Price New Deliverables After an AI-Driven Kickout
A few weeks ago, a client told me they no longer needed my copywriting because their internal team was trained on AI. That news stung more than I expected and left me worried about next month’s income.
What’s happening in our industry is increasingly common: clients assume AI alone can move products.
Rather than argue, I asked for a three-week window to dive into who their customers are. I tested angles, signals, metaphors, visuals, and emotional triggers. The result was three distinct deliverables that proved value beyond generic AI capabilities:
- Conversion Spark Pack: disruptive, high-impact headline concepts rooted in real consumer pain points.
- Demand Builder Pack: typography, semiotics, and clarity of emotion to strengthen messaging.
- Sales Accelerator Pack: practical placements and real-world examples showing how the ideas translate into action.

When I presented the three packs, the same client who had let me go reached out to revisit campaign planning—and they’re now willing to pay more.
I’m sharing this because the experience shook my confidence for a bit, and I know many freelancers and teams face AI-related pushback from clients.
I’d really value input from the community: What would be reasonable price ranges for each of these three deliverables? I’m aiming to set clearer pricing for future projects, and an external perspective would be incredibly helpful.
